Another Faust Sequel???

YES its true Daniel and Dina Nayeri authors of Another Faust have finished writing a follow up book to Another Faust titled Another Pan due out early October!!!

Here is a bit from a interview with the brother/sister due ow.

~"We just finished writing Another Pan, which is the second book in the series. It takes place at the Marlowe School and has a wonderfully intriguing main character. We’ve decided to give a nod to every author whose work we re-create in this series by naming some school fixture after them. Since our school is called Marlowe in honor of Faust, in book two much of the action takes place in Barrie Auditorium in honor of Peter Pan."~ Dina Nayeri, A Conversation with the Authors Candlewick Press

I loved Another Faust and was so excited to hear about Another Pan can't wait for it to come out.

Secret Santa!!!

This weekend while I was out of town I got my Secret Santa Gift! When I got home it was laying on my desk and I know it was for X-mas but I could not resist I had to open, and I'm glad I did!!! Here's what was inside....

My Review:

The book is based off a fairy tale called "The Wild Swans" which Zoë Marriott loved so much she had to written a story about it in her own words and add a few twists.

I fell in deep love with this book and the main character Alexandra. This was the first book sense the Twilight Saga that I could not put down I carried this book every where I went to work, the store, in the car literally everywhere.
When I first started reading this book I though I was in for a normal fairy tale where the princess was going to get in trouble and a Price was going to have to save her, but this was not the case at all. Alexandra is one of the most brave and strongest heroine I've read about. But whats funny she doesn't realize how strong and powerful she really is. I could never be like her to still be strong death after death, and to lose your home and everything you know and love twice, that would break me. Overall, this book was incredible and Zoë Marriott really knows how to write a book and hold a readers addition through the whole book and way after the last page is turned, this book will stick with me for a long time.

Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers

They both look really good but I like different things about both of the covers. "Cracked Up To Be" I like the background better and the different sades of green and how her legs are crossed it looks more girly, but on "Dirty Laundry" I like how the skirt and shoes are purple but the background is too white and plain for me.

My Review:

Another Faust is like a teen soap opera with a hint of magic.

I say this cause Another Faust has it all...Jealousy, Love, Cheating, magic to bad to be true, and a lot of plot twist. This very original novel was everything I love to read about. Daniel and Dina really know how to write a captivating book that holds you with every word.

Characters:

Victoria cheats, Belle tricks, Bice hides, Christian steals, and Valentin lies.

Very character in this book big and small are so incredibly written and well thought out, I had a hard time choosing my favorites. I did however choose my favorite guy and girl. Bice and Christian.

Bice- I loved Bice from the begging to end she was the one character I really related to the most. Shes smart, I mean you have to be brilliant to know over 23 languages. But she likes to hide and just be left alone with her books. So Madame Vileroy gives her what she wants the power to hide...she can stop time and and just hides for days, week, months, maybe years if she wanted, and then just go right back to the very time she froze everything. Bice unlike her twin sister Belle doesn't remember life before Madame Vileroy but with time and freezing time she comes to find out that not everything is what it seems.

Christian- Christian like Bice doesn't remember life before Madame Vileroy, but he doesn't want to hide he wants fame and fortune. Christian wants to be a famous, wealthy athlete. Growing up poor but not remembering it still has Christian scared of being poor. So to the best athlete you have to win and sometimes winning not so easy but with the help of Madame Vileroy, Christian can still other peoples strength and abilities. The reason i like Christian is cause he knows that stealing is the worst thing he could do and soon wants to stop altogether.

Another Faust is a astonishing, forceful first novel written by a brother sister team. That makes you see what you have was given to you for a reason and that you shouldn't want to change anything about yourself. So get ready to sell your soul for Another Faust!!! As always HAPPY READING!

My Review:

I've always wondered, and probably a lot of people think about this too, what would you do if you loved your best friend's boyfriend? Well, Jade Haddock is put in this situation and is trying to be a good friend.

For being Julie A. Gorges first YA fiction book she nailed it with a great plot that most teens can relate to and most adults can look back on. With a funny smart group of characters this novel will make you laugh, deal with very serous situations, and realise that life isn't always easy but if you stuck together everything will turn out as it should.

Characters: The characters are people you could find right in your own high school.

Jade- Strait A student, life planed out and makes Pro and Con list to make decisions, this is Jade Haddock. She is what her friend Stephanie and older brother Justin call Goody-Two-Shoes. When she meets Rob she doesn't want to be a goody-two-shoes anymore she wants him but doesn't want to upset Steph. Jade is very strong and independent but has a problem telling people what SHE WANTS. She was the character I related to most.

Rob- Rob is the new cute guy that both Stephanie and Jade wants, but which one does he want? He is a very smart guy with dreams of being a journalist, but he is slightly strange but in a very cute funny way, for example he talks to inanimate objects as a way of flirting, and wears clothes that look like they belong to a old man. He is also supporting and gives good advice.

Overall this book was great and is a fast and fun read, if you have time you can finish it in just a few hours. Would I recommend it? Being that this is my third time reading it HECK YES I would. As Always HAPPY READING!!!

Thrust into the city’s punk rock scene, Katy finds it hard to be so nice, especially with doom-and-gloom Lake, her father’s idea of a chaperone, ordering her around. Katy could let it all out like everyone else-pound on the skins and cymbals, shout and scream onstage-but music is dangerous and Katy isn’t that kind of girl. So what kind of girl is she?

My Review:
Beige never looked so good! Cecil Castellucci puts a fresh, fun and very hip spin on the familiar exiled-teen plot. What makes Cecil’s Beige so different from the rest is the way she incorporates the funky L.A. punk scene with memorable characters and fun edgy dialogue. What I liked best about this book was it all just seemed so real. I felt like I was Katy and I could feel her pain and understand why she was upset about the whole visiting her father and not liking her surroundings or the people around her. Once she started to realize that life in L.A., her father, and the punk scene wasn’t all that bad I found myself getting excited and jumping up and down inside just the same way she was. Out of all the teen exiled books I’ve read this was by far the best!

Characters: The characters are so fun, different, goofy, moody, hard core bad asses, definitely people I would want to know.

Katy (Beige)- In the beginning Katy is the definition of Beige, very plain, quite, not out spoken, and puts a smile on her face just to please everyone else. In her mind she says all the things she know she should say out loud but as she puts it she’s not that kind of girl to speak her real feelings. She complains a lot too, but who wouldn’t when forced to live with a father who was never there for her and living in a city she doesn’t know. As the book moves along she see that you don’t have to sit back and take the world so serious, that you can break out of you shell and just ROCK!

Beau Ratner (The Rat)- Katy’s father is one of my favorite characters. From the very first moment he’s introduced in the book he is nothing but hilarious, I constantly found myself laughing out loud at things The Rat said or did. But he has a flaw, he is a recovering heroin and alcohol addict. With all that aside, the name how many kids can call their dad “The Rat” and not get yelled at. Then he gets even cooler by being in a infamous band called SUCK with his close friend Sam Suck. The Rat is just laid back, music loving guy who just wants to do right by his daughter.

Lake Suck- She’s definitely a handful. Very badass in your face, rock chick. I was not a fan of Lake in the beginning, she was being bribed to hang out with Katy. You soon find out that her and Katy aren’t that much different, both of their parents (Moms and Dads) all knew each other and shared the same addictions. Lake also follows in her dad’s footsteps, she’s the lead singer on The Grown-Ups. By the end of the book she and Katy really understand each other.

I would recommend this book to anyone that doesn’t have one of their parents in their life or if you are just a fan of music. Hopefully my review will ROCK your socks off and you’ll want to read BEIGE! Happy Reading and ROCK ON \m/

My Review: (warning might have spoiler)

Swoon was not really what I was expecting...it was better! From page one its very fast speed you don't have to wait 20 pages to get to any action. The storyline was very original nothing I personally every read before. Boy (Sin) hanged over 250 years ago comes back to Swoon to seek revenge on the town's people for the killing of his love, unborn child, and for his unjust killing. All the while betraying, hurting, and falling in love with a girl (Dice) who just happens to have psychic ability's.

Characters:

Dice- New York born and raised pulled from here home after the death of her best friend, moves to Swoon where her world turns upside down. When I think of Dice I see a strong, independent girl with some secrets that might break her if she lets them out. Dice's character is a little hard to understand, what with being in love with someone who is hurting your friends and love ones, plus killing a few people. But, like they say you can't help who you fall in love with and it doesn't help if the guy is freakin hot! Plus having psychic ability's is like icing on the cake. By the end of the book Dice was not someone I related to but definitely someone I would want to know.

Sin- My favorite character, why? Because who doesn't love a bad boy. In the beginning of the book Sin is just a soul who has possessed Pen. He seems like a good guy and you feel bad for him since his love and unborn child were murdered, then he was hanged for a crime he didn't commit. Once he gains Dice's trust he lies to her and gets her to perform what Dice thinks is a exorciam but really a spell to make him into a real guy. Once he has his own body that's when he starts his revenge spree. Going after people who are descendants of the people who sentenced him to death. Its hard to understand why he would want to kill people who had nothing to do with the death of him or his love but that's probably something I will never fully get. While I was reading I was anticipating the next part that would have Sin in it or talked about him.

Pen- Not my favorite character she to me was just there as a body bag for Sin not once but twice, Sin's little toy he could get to do whatever he wanted. Her attitude was just stuck up look at me. She did play a big part with out her being dumb and climbing the tree and falling Sin would have never had a body to possess.

Overall I loved this book, I gave it 4 stars just because at times I was a little confused and while the end was good I felt like Sin should have been able to stay with Dice but that's just me. I can't wait to read it again...There are some sexual references nothing to bad, just thought I'd worn you.

My Review:

First off I give Willow 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, 1 out of 10 it gets 100. Willow knocks out other books in my top ten. This is one of the best books I’ve ever read!!! Julia Hoban really knows how to write, she will reel in by the very BEAUTIFUL cover (front and back) then once you’ve read the first page she has you hooked and won’t let you go even after you finished.

Characters: the characters are absolutely amazing everyone of them holds their own, even the background supporting characters bring so much to the story.

Willow (main Character)- Is a 16 year old girl who find relief from her parents tragic death but answering to the sweet calls of the blade. Although the blade leaves hideous scars to Willow its better then breaking down and crying. Willow is to me a very strong girl trying to deal with something so mind-boggling, the deaths of both parents and believing that its her fault. But at the same time she’s able to help people who’s problems seem so small and pathetic compared to hers.

Guy- From the very first line that talks about Guy which is on page 7, I knew he was going to be Willow’s hero, the person that was going to be there for her no matter what she said or did to him or even what she was doing to herself. Guy is by far my favorite character in this book, by the middle of the book I myself was wanting to have someone like him. He’s smart, athletic, probably one of the nicest people you would every meet, and immediately falls for Willow and still loves her after he learns her secret.

I would without a doubt recommend Willow to anyone who wants to read a deep emotional, powerful and moving story, I recently gave my grandmother my copy of Willow and she a 59 year old woman really enjoyed it. So hope my review makes you go out and buy your own copy and as always happy reading- Hailley

24 Hour Read-a-Thon

Yeah that’s right a 24 Hour Read-a-Thon, I’m talking non-stop reading, fingers cramping, eyes burning, read tell you can‘t see straight or can barely hold up a book . So get new books, old books, your favorite books, and read like crazy!!!!!! The books I want to read tomorrow are, Eclipse(finish it) and then read Breaking Dawn and maybe if I’m lucky I will get to Wintergirls!!!! Read a little for me cause sadly I start my new job tomorrow and I’m only going to be able to read on breaks and once I get off. Plus this will be my last post until Monday I have to work both Saturday and Sunday-Enjoy the read-a-thon and have a great weekend PEACE!!!

Ok I know in a previous post I said I wasn’t keen to the idea of letting complete strangers borrow my books but that was before I read about BookMooch. In My Mailbox is to show what new books I’ve recived and bought. The idea of In My Mailbox was started by my Favorite YA Blog thestorysiren.com.

I went to Cargo Largo Yesterday (April4) and got Love Is Hell by a group of authors- Melissa Marr, Scott Westerfeld, Justine Larbalestier, Gabrielle Zevin, and Laurie Faria Stolarz. Which was only $2.00! I know wow huh….Then later that same day after seeing Adventureland, I went to Borders and bought 2 more Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson, one of my favorite writers, and Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chanler. I can’t wait to read all 3 of them!!!--PEACE

I got the Twilight Director’s Notebook By Catherin Hardwicke on Saturday March 21,2009 the same day I got the Twilight DVD but just didn’t have time to write a post about it, so now I’m writing a review my very first book review to be post on my blog. First of all the cover looks amazing. On the front cover there are pictures from the movie, set, story board, and drawings of the costumes. Then once you’ve gotten passed the beauty of the cover you flip the book open to find a few black and white pictures of the forest and Edward and Bella. Then about 8 pages in you get to see a real life picture of Catherine Hardwicke’s copy of Twilight which has been worn down from reading and posting notes in it and on the next page is a message from Catherine herself. The book is broken down into chapters, here’s some just to name a few…CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, PLANNING THE SCENE, THE VAN CRASH, THE MEADOW, MUSIC, TWILIGHT MANIA, and many more. From the inside out this book is…well let me put it in James’s words- VISALLY DYNAMIC. This is a Must Have to any Twilight collection. And my rating for this book is ***** 5stars

Got Twilight DVD!!!!!

Went to the Walmart party to get the Twilight Dvd with my best friend Beth (right). had such a good time waiting in line talking to all the other Twilighters their just a great bunch of people!!! We watched it once already and now I'm about to watch all the extra stuff so excited!!!! hope you all got your copy and are enjoying the movie....Peace

Went to Wal-Mart today just for some shopping. When I was looking for a line to check-out in I passed their book section. Usually I don’t look for books at Wal-Mart cause their book selection Sucks, but something caught my eye and I had to go look at it…to my surprise I found a book that was on my list!!!Dead is the New Black. Of course I bought it LOL and I learned to look every so often at Wal-Mart’s books. (but I still prefer Borders)
